Question: Is there a method from within the UK export system that can recreate “frictionless” imports within the EU? i.e. goods not being held up in the importing countries Customs. What I am trying to avoid is a customer in the EU country being contacted by their Customs and requesting import clearance and duty payment.

Answer: Please refer to the published guidance at https://www.gov.uk/prepare-to-export-from-great-britain-from-january-2021 which sets out the exporting process in detail including how you may be able to move goods quicker to the EU from 1 January 2021

The Guidance has been published and we can confirm that UK customs declarations will not be required for goods that started their journey from/to the EU before 11pm on 31 December, provided the trader can show that the goods entered a UCC procedure before that time.
