A fantastic opportunity has arisen for 3 SEN TA / Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistants in a large Primary school in Chesterfield. One is to work with a child who is severely Autistic in year 3. Another role is to work with a very challenging child in year 5 who requires 1:1 support to take time to get to know the child and implement steps to help curb his bad behaviour and help him get academically back on track. The last role is a BSL role working with a little girl in year 2 and you must have a BSL lv1.

The school ha sa large amount of pupils with various special needs, ranging from moderate learning difficulties to complex and profound needs.

The post requires talented SEN TA / Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistants who are flexible, enthusiastic and dedicated to supporting children with educational needs to join their team of dedicated staff.

All applicants must be NVQ Level 2/3 qualified or equivalent and have a minimum of 6 months’ experience working with children with special educational needs and disabilities. Support workers are welcome to apply

You must have sound knowledge of working in a variety of roles with children with special needs as this role will require the successful candidates to be very flexible.

You will need to feel confident working 1 to 1 with a child or as part of a close nit team with children with varied needs.

If you are able to plan your own sessions this would be a definite advantage.

The role will include:

Assisting the teacher with classroom preparation
work with students who require additional support
Leading group work
1to1 support
Helping the class teacher with pupil observations
