Job Description: Deputy Head of Mathematics/ 2nd in Charge- Hammersmith & Fulham- Permanent position- Sept 2020

Are you an outstanding Mathematics Teacher with leader qualities and are looking for that next step in your career?

Maybe you are currently working as a Deputy head of Mathematics/2nd in charge are looking for a new challenge and are keen to make an impact?

My client school are looking to appoint an outstanding Deputy Head of Mathematics.
This school is ambitious, believes strongly in their vision and ethos and is determined to influence the educational landscape nationally and globally. It is in the process of moving from a SAT to a MAT which means that there are exciting career progression opportunities.
In an external review in November 2019, the school's ethos, pastoral care, personal development of pupils and standards of behaviour and uniform were described as 'beyond exceptional'.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Mathematics in leading the Mathematics department to develop a curriculum built on ‘bringing out the best in boys`
Last year their Mathematics department had very disappointing results (although it is important to say there were some outstanding practitioners withing the department). Since then they have overhauled the department, brought in new blood and appointed an exceptional Head of Mathematics who is really moving the department forward. They are looking to bring someone in who can work closely with him to continue to really drive up standards and put maths on a par with their highest achieving departments. It is an exciting job for someone who is looking for a challenge and keen to make an impact.
To that end, candidates should:
• Be an outstanding classroom practitioner
• Have excellent leadership skills
• Have a clear understanding of the latest curriculum and pedagogical developments in Mathematics
• Have high expectations of students and staff in terms of learning, achievement and behaviour
• Have a sound subject knowledge which they can utilise to challenge all pupils
• Have experience of teaching KS4 and KS5
• Possess a real can-do attitude
• Have the capacity to contribute to the development of the School’s Christian ethos

The main purpose of the role will be to assist in leading the Mathematics department but there are also opportunities for the successful candidate to share their skills, experience, interests and hobbies within the extensive co-curricular programme that they offer to their boys.
