The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Mathematics in leading the Mathematics department to develop a curriculum built on ‘bringing out the best in boys`
Last year their Mathematics department had very disappointing results (although it is important to say there were some outstanding practitioners withing the department). Since then they have overhauled the department, brought in new blood and appointed an exceptional Head of Mathematics who is really moving the department forward. They are looking to bring someone in who can work closely with him to continue to really drive up standards and put maths on a par with their highest achieving departments. It is an exciting job for someone who is looking for a challenge and keen to make an impact.
To that end, candidates should:
• Be an outstanding classroom practitioner
• Have excellent leadership skills
• Have a clear understanding of the latest curriculum and pedagogical developments in Mathematics
• Have high expectations of students and staff in terms of learning, achievement and behaviour
• Have a sound subject knowledge which they can utilise to challenge all pupils
• Have experience of teaching KS4 and KS5
• Possess a real can-do attitude
• Have the capacity to contribute to the development of the School’s Christian ethos
The main purpose of the role will be to assist in leading the Mathematics department but there are also opportunities for the successful candidate to share their skills, experience, interests and hobbies within the extensive co-curricular programme that they offer to their boys.
