Upcoming Netflix shows and movies you don’t really afford to miss!
1. Narcos: Mexico
The second season of Netflix’s Mexican drug-lord saga — Narcos: Mexico — will be released on February 13. The upcoming season progresses the story of cartel boss Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo (Diego Luna), better known as ‘El Padrino’ or ‘The Godfather’ of the Guadalajara cartel.
Felix starts to lose control over disputes between different plazas of his cartel. Meanwhile, the DEA launches Operation Leyenda to turn up the heat on him for the abduction and murder of agent Kiki Camarena (Michael Pena).
The action-packed trailer is nothing short of intriguing and given season 1’s rave reviews, we expect season two of Narcos: Mexico to hit the sweet spot once again.
2. The Chef Show (Volume 3)
Iron Man Director Jon Favreau continues his food escapades with Chef Roy Choi in the upcoming season of The Chef Show. The Netflix series was originally inspired by Favreau’s 2014 film Chef and will continue to explore delicious foods cooked by Favreau and Choi alongside their bandwagon of celebrity guests. Two seasons of the mouth-watering, celeb-studded show are already available on Netflix, so you can get started now before season 3 hits the block on February 19.
3. The Last Thing He Wanted
The Last Thing He Wanted is adapted from the Joan Didion novel of the same name. The upcoming Netflix political thriller, which will hit Netflix on February 21, stars Ben Affleck, Anne Hathaway, and Willem Dafoe. Hathaway plays a veteran D.C. journalist who gets caught up in her own investigation while completing a task for her dying father (Dafoe). The film saw a Sundance release in January and has received less than impressive reviews so far. We’ll still stick it in here just as a tribute to the big Hollywood names associated with it.
4. I Am Not Okay With This
This is an upcoming Netflix show from the producers of Stranger Things. It’s based on the Charles Forsman graphic novel by the same name and tells the story of Sydney, a 15-year-old teenager (Sophia Lillis) dealing with the usual drama that comes with being a high school freshman. What’s not usual and expected are her telekinetic powers which even she doesn’t know about.
I Am Not Okay With This is coming to Netflix on February 26.
5. Altered Carbon (Season 2)
Netflix’s sci-fi hit from 2019, Altered Carbon, returns for a second season this February. If you’ve seen the first season of the show, you’d know that its storyline is set 300 years into the future, where human consciousness can be digitized and death is not a permanent concept. The new season will follow the quest of Takeshi Kovacs (Anthony Mackie), as he tries to solve a series of brutal murders and looks for his long-lost love Quellcrist Falconer (Renée Elise Goldsberry).
Season 2 of Altered Carbon hits Netflix on February 27.
6. Queen Sono
Queen Sono is another upcoming Netflix show, and it’s coming on February 28. This action-packed series will follow the adventures of a South African Spy named Queen Sono (Pearl Thusi), as she navigates her most dangerous mission yet. This is Netflix’s first African original series, so it could be worth checking out to see what kind of content the company envisions for that region.
7. Spenser Confidential
Spenser Confidential is a comedy-thriller starring Mark Wahlberg as Spenser, an ex-con who is fresh out of prison. Not long after he gets his freedom, Spenser is roped into helping his buddy and old boxing coach Henry (Alan Arkin), with an amateur boxer named Hawk (Winston Duke). When two of Spenser’s colleagues turn up dead, he recruits Hawk and his ex-girlfriend, Cissy (Iliza Shlesinger), to help with the investigation.
Spencer Confidential premieres on Netflix on March 6.
8. Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker
Self Made is a four-part limited series starring Octavia Spencer. The Oscar winner plays the role of African American hair-care entrepreneur Madam C.J. Walker, and the series is inspired by Walker’s life, her struggles, and her eventual success as America’s first female self-made millionaire. The show also stars Blair Underwood as her husband C.J. Walker and Tiffany Haddish as her daughter Leila.
You’ll be able to watch this upcoming Netflix show starting March 20.
9. Ozark (Season 3)
The upcoming season of Ozark will be its third overall. If you haven’t seen the first two installments of this Jason Bateman drama-thriller, it’s a good time to catch up on them right now.
The gist of the plot is that a skilled money launderer named Martin Byrde (Bateman) moves his family from Chicago to Missouri Ozark, where he continues to launder money for a drug lord. By the time season 3 hits, the Byrde family has been through various ups and downs and managed to acquire a casino, the perfect business to launder more money.
Six months into their new venture, Martin and his wife Wendy (Laura Linney) fight over what the family’s next steps should be. Meanwhile, Wendy’s brother Ben comes into town and everyone’s lives are thrown into chaos.
Ozark season 3 will be released on Netflix on March 27.
